Traits we pass on

It’s amazing how you begin to see parts of yourself in your child. I know while I was growing up it was simply TERRIBLE to find that I was doing something just like my mother. But now, as an adult, I see the merits in the traits I have from my parents. But for now, while Justin is a baby—at least for a little while longer—it’s a kind of fun to see parts of Jon-Paul or myself in his actions. The one that stands out the most for me on a daily basis is the food factor. Jon-Paul has the most first hand experience with this “trait” of mine. Basically, I can get pretty cranky (Jon-Paul has another word for it) when I’m hungry and know that food isn’t going to happen soon enough. I’m SO much happier once I’ve eaten—aren’t we all ladies!? Anyway, I’m seeing this more and more in my son. Usually I’m pretty good about being aware of the time and getting him snacks or a meal. But sometimes he really lets me know when he’s hungry. Fussy isn’t exactly the word… but once he’s fed, he’s a whole new child!! It’s just funny to see that same trait in my child. Hopefully he’ll also get other, better, traits like my artistic skills or Jon-Paul’s knowledge for geography or a wonderful combination of both our athletic skills. I’d hate to only see those traits you really don’t WANT people to know about.
