New Discoveries...
As a mom it's such a great feeling to watch your child make new discoveries and learn about the world. Considering I'm talking about my first baby who is just barely a year old, those discoveries seem to happen around every corner! But sometimes those discoveries aren't the ones you want them to make. The other day, Justin discovered toilet paper--on the roll. He likes to check out our bathroom because we have a digital scale in there and he enjoys watching the numbers change on the display. Well, while I was putting some things away in the linen closet just outside that bathroom, I came to find that in those few moments my child had discovered that this roll of white paper moves! And LOOK mama, the white stuff comes off into a pile on the floor!

Oddly enough, only a few hours later, discovered the tissue box on the side table in the living room. I have to be fair... what he was looking at was the picture of Jon-Paul and I that was on the table and making distinct "dada" noises. :-) However, right next to that picture was this fun looking box with some of this interesting paper sticking out. Of course, as any child would, he pulled on it and they just kept coming out!

I'm learning that these not-so-good behaviors are not ones you want to encourage by smiling or laughing at them. In both of these cases, I calmly walked over to my camera case and quietly snapped a picture and then tried to educate my son on leaving these things alone. We'll see if that works out or not.

Chase discovered both of those things too, only he took the whole roll of toilet paper and put it in the toilet and I had to fish it out. Ryan wouldn't let me post pictures because he said it was proof of bad parenting-whatever. Kids will be kids. It's hard not to smile and laugh sometimes though, isn't it? Now I just keep the doors shut. That will work until he figures out door knobs.
